Engineering Experts, in collaboration with Group Suerickx, took on the ambitious challenge of dismantling a production unit in southern France and rebuilding it in Belgium. This project highlights the importance of accuracy in civil works, where precision, alignment, and craftsmanship were key at every stage. The result: a civil structure ready to support the heaviest loads. Discover how this impressive engineering feat came to life.
At Engineering Experts, we enjoy a challenge. A challenge like dismantling a production unit in the south of France and rebuilding it in Belgium.
The tolerance margins involved across the various technical disciplines of the project are therefore extremely important.
In the first phase of this project, we had to look for a civil contractor who is willing to go the extra mile to achieve the highest quality and precision.
With a tolerance margin of 15mm, this search was no easy task, but we found the perfect partner in Group Suerickx. The newly established division of Group Suerickx was willing to take on this challenge with us.
For the construction of floor slabs, pits, foundation blocks, and the positioning of anchor chairs, precise alignment was of utmost importance. Setting out the axes and aligning the anchor chairs just before the start of the concrete works required the presence of a surveyor both before and during execution. It must be said that they demonstrated an impressive level of craftsmanship to bring this to a successful completion.
To verify the execution, a check measurement was carried out by an external surveyor, and adjustments were made where necessary.
The result speaks for itself. A civil structure ready to support all major components, topped off with a platform internally fitted with multiple HEB 600 beams and one HEB 800 reinforcement beam, will easily withstand the heaviest loads.
A great collaboration between Engineering Experts and Group Suerickx to bring this impressive piece of engineering to life.
