New SO3 converter with heat recovery

For a global player active in the production of sulphur-based chemicals of the highest purity, our consultants were responsible for

• Engineering coordination
• Procurement of goods and services
• Project and construction management

During the design phase for the renewal of the installation that converts SO2 into SO3 gas, an Engineering Expert was called in to guide the various parties involved in the right direction. Checking American design and construction standards against the current European and Belgian standards was therefore quite a challenge.

Subsequently, RFQ packages were drawn up for the various materials, disciplines and activities, allowing the end customer to make a technical and price comparison before awarding the contract to the preferred contractor/supplier.

Finally, our consultants were also called upon for construction management during the execution of the project. The difficult conditions, under the influence of the COVID pandemic, made the assignment so special given the continuous changes in the construction schedule.

Even under difficult circumstances, we kept a cool head and realised this project within the fastest possible timeframe and budget.
